Why Health Matters?
I'm so confused. All I want to be is healthy. Looking around on the internet I am bombarded with information. Some of it looks helpful and some of it looks, well, hopeless. What does one do, who does one listen to? There's so many sites out there offering advice on health and fitness that you don't know where to turn.
The aim of this website is to educate you out there who look for the same kind of healthy lifestyle. I'm not going to force any method upon you or charge you the information on here. I'm also going to try and make this relevant to people in South Africa, especially when it comes to foods and products and where to buy them from.
The information and advice gathered will probably be from more than one site. I usually work like that. If I read something interesting I like to dig a little deeper.
I am not a doctor, nutritionist or fitness instructor. What I am is someone like you who would like to be all three rolled into one but really, who has the time?
Please feel free to comment on articles, correct me if you see errors or even suggest topics you would like me to investigate and write on.
So I hope you find this site useful and it helps to keep you fit and healthy.

What is a CALORIE
A calorie is a unit of energy.
There are:
4 calories in 1 gram of carbohydrate.
4 calories in 1 gram of protein.
9 calories in 1 gram of fat (double that of protein and carbs!).
It takes 4.2 kilojoules (1,000 calories or 1 kCal) of energy to increase the temperature of 1 kilogram of water by 1 °C
There are 7000 calories in 1kg of fat. To burn that off is going to take some time.
